500 Word analysis of sit-com

The Inbetweeners (series 3, episode 1- The fashion show) is based around four characters and they all play a certain roll, which contextualizes as a family. I will be analyzing each character and explaining my own interpretations about each character.

The main character "Will" that thinks he’s above from everyone because he attended a private high school plays the matriarch of the group, he's the one who always tries to take control of situations and has many moral beliefs. If will is in anyway challenged about his moral beliefs he tends to stick by his one friend in order to remain in power.

"Simon" plays the part of a patriarch, so he's like the dominant male that again tries to act responsible but is easily persuaded by others to make irresponsible choices but agrees with the matriarch to over right others.

“Jay” plays an irresponsible character, which feels as though he has to lie to his friends in order to build up an image as being the "experienced" one. To elaborate further he lies to his friends in order to make them believe he has this other side to him which makes him look cooler, however his friends see past it all and questions him about it leaving him thinking they believe in his lies, when in actual fact they don't.

“Neil” is a character who seems rather absent most of the time but in actual fact does seem to be confident and experienced in social situations but doesn’t seem to talk about it very much with his friends. When it comes to doing something irresponsible he doesn’t question it he goes a long with his friends even though he knows the consequences he’ll face later on. He has a confidence when talking to girls but again is quite conservative when talking about it with his friends, however now and again he does mention his past experiences.

In the Inbetweeners comedy sitcom they usually is an instigator that tries to convince everyone in thinking it is a good idea to do something they shouldn’t. The storyline then develops further more into having something bad happen which gets the group into trouble, and then moves on to having the issue being resolved which makes the sitcom a closed storyline.

The first plot point was they first found out that “Will” got the job of collecting the money which helped raise money for the fashion show, even though he was totally against it. He pretty much had no choice as his headmaster was putting him in charger of the money whether he liked it or not.

The second plot point was when “Simon” went on the runway with his private parts sticking out without him realizing, which resulted in him and his crush Carly being humiliated in front of the whole of the school and parents of the students who were involved with the fund raiser.

After the second plot point the issue was resolved and ended with the main characters concluding what had happened during the episode which was narrated by “Will” and using flashbacks of the events the day they went through.
